1. No registration
Seek requires no registration or login and does not ask for your real name, phone number or email. An anonymous identifier maintains device identity; anonymity does not mean that no data is processed. This policy explains the information we use, why we use it and your choices.
2. Live voice
When you grant microphone permission and hold the talk button, Seek transmits audio through its real-time voice service. We do not record or store voice files on our servers and do not provide conversation history playback. Other participants may independently record what they hear, so avoid sharing sensitive information.
3. Location and channels
With location permission, Seek uses live location for nearby listening, member distances, maps and regional activity. The speaking-control service also processes location to determine distance. Channel 0000 sends coarsened location for nearby listening decisions and does not display precise individual map points. Ordinary numbered channels share location and distance with members in the same channel. The globe in 9999 shows aggregated regional activity, not individual location points. Ordinary numbered channels have no password or membership restriction; consider this sharing scope before using them. Location and session state support live features. Switching channels or closing the app does not mean every server state, cache or backup disappears immediately.
4. Anonymous identity, preferences and acceptance records
Seek uses a random anonymous identifier and device credential to maintain your identity. Relevant channel members see your nickname and numeric ID to distinguish users. The device credential is held in system secure storage; uninstalling may not reset your identity.
Nickname, language, block list, automatic listening on next launch, background voice reception and other preferences are stored locally. The server retains anonymous identifiers, numeric IDs, block relationships, and the version and time of your agreement acceptance to maintain identity, preserve blocking and record your confirmation. The automatic-listening preference is stored on your device.
5. Operation, security and retention
Network infrastructure processes IP addresses and necessary connection information and may generate operational and security logs. System permission, map and real-time communication components process data needed for their functions. We do not sell information. Connections are encrypted in transit; we do not promise end-to-end encryption or absolute security. Server and backup access is restricted. We retain data for as long as needed for service operation, security, acceptance verification and legal obligations.
Relevant records are included in restricted backups. After verifying a deletion request, we handle online records within its scope and check automated backups, manual copies and restore-test copies. Residual backup records may require rotation or separate cleanup and may not disappear at the same time as online records. Our response will explain the scope, cleanup arrangements, and any records that must still be retained and why. When restoring an older backup, confirmed deletions must be reapplied before the deleted records are returned to service.
6. Listening, background use and your choices
On first use, the listening prompt offers “Start Listening” and “Not Now”. Tapping “Start Listening” in the prompt starts listening for the current session and saves “Auto-listen on startup” as enabled on this device. Choosing “Not Now” or dismissing the prompt does not start listening or change the saved preference. Once the enabled preference is saved successfully, listening starts automatically on the next launch after acceptance, permissions and other required conditions are met. If the preference is disabled or no valid preference exists, the prompt appears again. You can turn “Auto-listen on startup” on or off in Settings. Changes in Settings apply only to the next launch and do not start or interrupt current listening.
You may revoke microphone or location permissions in system settings, which may prevent related features from working. If you enable background voice reception, Seek may continue receiving channel audio and maintaining related connections and location functions as permitted by the operating system. Turning this option off stops background listening. You may stop speaking, switch channels or fully exit the app; moving it to the background is not the same as exiting. If you disagree with the Terms of Use, you can remain on the confirmation screen without entering a channel. Opening or dismissing a legal document does not count as acceptance.
7. Contact and changes
Contact seekapp@163.com with questions or to request access, correction or deletion of records linked to your anonymous identifier. State the numeric ID shown in the app and the scope of your request. We will use necessary and reasonable steps to verify your control of the relevant device identity. A numeric ID or nickname alone does not prove identity. Do not send device credentials or other secrets.
Requests are handled manually. We will explain verification results, what can be processed, and why any part cannot be processed or certain records must be retained. Access responses protect other people’s privacy and exclude their identifying information and internal moderation notes. Deleting server records does not clear local preferences or revoke the device credential; continued use may generate records again. When material policy changes require renewed confirmation, we will present the updated documents for you to review.
8. Reporting and appeals
Seek offers reporting, blocking and appeals. A successful report automatically blocks the reported person. We retain both parties’ anonymous identifiers, the reported nickname, relevant channel, reason and description, along with moderation, notice and appeal records, so administrators can review reports and decide how to respond.
The reported person cannot see the reporter’s ID or internal moderation notes. Reporting does not record audio or collect additional location data. Please avoid including unrelated sensitive information in descriptions.
