A hand-drawn recipe notebook, ingredients, and kitchen timer for SelfCook

I wanted a recipe book of my own. Favorite methods, quantities that work, and the little tips that make a dish feel familiar could all live together, ready to find the next time I cook.

So I made SelfCook, an app for keeping personal recipes that can also lend a hand in the kitchen. Rather than collect recipes I might never use, I wanted to build a small book of dishes I actually make.

Recipes that reflect the way you cook

For each dish, you can record ingredients and quantities, break the method into steps, and add photos. When to lower the heat, when to add salt, and how you prefer it to taste can all become part of your notes.

The dish does not have to be elaborate. It might be a familiar tomato-and-egg stir-fry or a home-cooked meal you want to try again. With each small adjustment, the recipe becomes a little more your own.

A calmer time in the kitchen

Cooking mode lets you follow the recipe step by step and use timers when a step needs a little waiting. There is less switching between cooking, checking notes, and watching the clock. You can also share a recipe with friends so they can open it in SelfCook.

The starting point was simple: keep the flavors I love, and feel a little more at ease in the kitchen. One recipe and one meal at a time, the collection starts to feel like mine.
