Seek: tune in to the world around you

I wondered what it would be like to have a channel on my phone that could let me hear what was happening nearby and help me find the people traveling with me.
That idea became Seek. It brings live voice, places, and people on the move together. There is no sign-up and no need to add someone as a friend first. Choose a channel, start listening, and hold the button when you want to respond.
Hear what is happening around you
0000 is the nearby channel, for people within five kilometers. Someone can share something they have noticed along the way, or ask about what is happening where they are. With voices coming from the same area, the conversation has a place and a moment in common.
I want that connection to be easy to make. People do not have to know each other or stay in touch afterward. A timely observation or a reply from someone who is there can make the surroundings a little more familiar. This channel does not show individual locations or distances.
Find each other along the way
When people head out together, they do not always stay side by side. One person might reach a junction first, another might stop to wait, and someone else may need to check where to meet. A quick “I am waiting up ahead,” together with a view of the other person's location, can be useful.
Seek's regular numbered channels provide a simple way to make that connection. Agree on four digits and join the same channel to talk within five kilometers and see channel members' locations and distances. The number helps everyone find the same channel; other people who know it can join too.
Voice travels over the internet, with a walkie-talkie style interaction: one person speaks while the channel listens. I want the controls to stay simple so that useful information can be shared promptly along the way.
Listen a little farther afield
Beyond nearby conversations and traveling together, 9999 is a shared worldwide channel. Switch to it to hear voices from farther away and contribute your own.
That is part of what I like about the name Seek: a little curiosity about what is around us and what lies beyond it. I want to keep building it into a small, practical tool that connects voices with real places, things happening now, and people along the way.
